Kudos Japan. You've Once again managed to pull the rug out from under us by giving us a show that because of it's premise, should be automatically referred to the "Anime harem trash" section of anime fandom. In every sense of the word this show should not be as good as it is, but it is.
Those who saw the first season of Sekirei either loved it or hated it. Some thought it had potential to get better. Those who stuck around to see if that was the case were rewarded with this installment. The action, character development, and story are all put as the focal point and explained. And the bond between the ashikabis and their Sekirei are all better emphasized.
Gokurakuin Sakurako is a crafty guy. Being able to mix heavy fanservice, and still be able to make an interesting story is hard to do, and when its done right the results can be pretty surprising. Almost as surprising as Sekirei getting a second season, but we're glad it did. Also there's more Karasuba, and let's be honest: "Who doesn't want more Karasuba?"

The second season pretty much left the door open for a third, but no date has been given as of yet.
