[A3K Newz] New Battle Royale and CMX Closes

Battle Royale 3D Conversion Anyone remember the awful Battle Royale live-action film that simultaneously ignored the social commentary of the novel while glorifying the violence? Apparently Toei loves that movie so much that they've decided that it needed a 3D conversion.  Battle Royale, written by Koushun Takami, is the story of 42 high school students who are trapped on an island and forced to kill each other until only one remains. It's an allegorical tale about Japanese students and the constant pressure they're under to succeed. The book is phenomenal and should be read by everyone. The movie, on the other hand, is okay as a standalone gore-flick, but it doesn't hold a candle to the real story. However, it can be said that it's 9000 times better than the manga adaptation.

DC Comics to Close CMX Manga in July
While the news of any company closing its doors is always sad, I can't be bothered to care about CMX. To be honest, I thought they disappeared a long time ago. What's more shocking than their departure is the fact that they've been in business as long as they have. Sure, they have a few neat titles  like Kikaider Code 02, but hardly enough to keep a business afloat. Nevertheless, it's a shame to see them go. If you've been meaning to pick up the edited version of Tenjho Tenge you should do so before its out-of-print and price gouged on Ebay.
