K-ON! Is the latest work from Kyoto animation. It’s based on a 4-Koma by Kakifly.Of all the shows this season, K-ON! seems to be the one generating the most hype. This is due to its being made by the same studio that gave us The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. This new series combines two things that many male anime fans are sure to love--cute girls and great music.Our main character is Yui Hirasawa, a naive high school student with no redeeming qualities. She’s clumsy, timid, and void of any talent. Her hobbies include eating and sitting around doing nothing. In other word, she’s your typical mo character. In sharp contrast, you have Ritsu Tainaka. She’s boisterous, extroverted, and annoying. Add two more non-descript characters to the mix and watch the crazy hijinks ensue.
This first episode focuses mainly on Yui trying to find something to do after school everyday. In her search, she stumbles upon a light music club. They’re pretty desperate for a fourth member. So desperate, in fact, that the girls immediately try to persuade Yui into joining their club despite her lack of musical knowledge.
If you’re looking for something with a little more action, K-ON! might not be for you. But if you like music, cute girls, light humor, and gorgeous character designs, then you should definitely check this show out.
