Review by: Jd Banks Director: Akiyuki Shinbo Animation Production: Shaft Based on the manga by Tamaki Nozomu   Synopsis When victims start turning up with puncture holes in their necks, everyone begins to wonder if vampires really exist. Soon, a game show begins to challenge the existence of vampires, and the ruler of vampires appears with an arm belonging to the renegade vampire. Although the vampire shows up to re-claim his arm and wreak havoc on the TVC station, the real ruler of vampires delivers a disturbing message to mankind: vampires are no longer to live in the shadows of man.

Jd’s Thoughts

Who knows why another vampire series has cropped up in the new anime seas, but I’m glad it’s not a re-touched Twilight clone.

Dance in the Vampire Bund gives chills similar to watching Death Note or Devil May Cry. It has the inquiring depth that Death Note dished out. Like that series, Dance in the Vampire Bund turns the antagonist—in this case, vampires—into the protagonist and delves into little mind games that will make anyone want to watch the next episode. With the amount of blood and demons, this new anime series reminds of Devil May Cry’s uncensored nature.

The animation by Shaft is well-done, almost on par with Madhouse coupled with interesting directing. The first episode starts off so fast—almost too fast—but the snippets of the media coverage concerning the vampire attacks give enough information as to what is happening. The rest of the episode continues in a slower yet similar fashion, creating suspense and questions. It makes you want to jump for the next episode.

Of course, you can’t miss out on the action scenes, especially when the power creep isn’t on humanity’s side.

Summary

If you like suspense, gore, and darkness, Dance in the Vampire Bund is one series not to be missed. Watch it now!
