Wow, I wouldn't call it awful just because there isn't a clear place to download the podcast. They're still working out some of the bugs. Perhaps you could be bit more constructive with your criticism in the future and they could use it to better the website.Karaoke Ninja wrote:Your web design is awful. Where the hell is the download link?

|Administrator |Y-m-d H:i:s SugaFreeSure the website might not be perfect.
But you love you some Anime 3000 podcast though

Seeing as how it's been a day and not been fixed, how about you FIX THE SPELLING OF MY NAME, CHEESEHEADS
Also, fix the rest of the show notes, DON'T YOU FORCE ME TO TELL YOU HOW
-
Heh, I just noticed that--it say's Suart. It's also interesting to note that I'm the only one that doesn't have a last name. Not that it matters. I just found it humorous. Although it did make me think of Cher, and anything that makes me think of that ridiculous V outfit she wore is likely evil.
I'm not entirely sure what Daryl means by fixing the show notes. I assume he's referring to the randomness of them. If you want to you could always email me what you plan on using for the show notes and I can put them into some sort of format. I could be the Podcast Show Notes Editor.
I should probably shut up before you start making me write the damn things.
-
No matter the tone or intention, feedback makes you a better person. Let me know what you think about the show notes. I'm working on a steady format.

-
When I said "fix the show notes" I didn't mean the formatting. I meant the actual CONTENT. The studio's name is Studio 4°C, not Studio 4. You copy-pasted from Anime News Network verbatim without actually looking at what you copy-pasted after I made fun of people who do that on the show. Besides the fact that you shouldn't link to Wikipedia entries for general information about anime because Wikipedia entries spoil things in their entirety, the fact that you linked to the article about the live-action Giant Robo series from the 1960s instead of the anime OAV that I was talking about demonstrates that you didn't even look at the freaking page before linking to it.
Let me show you the REAL Giant Robo OAV informational link: http://animeworldorder.blogspot.com/2006/05/anime-world-order-show-21-anti-moe.html

|SAdministrator |Y-m-d H:i:s Sean Russell - Damn! You really are amazing. In a good way. I wish I had money to pay you to pick up after me.
Feel free to stop by and keep me honest. I really appreciate the feedback. My goal is to get it right.

|92.22.54.xxx |Y-m-d H:i:s Zim0080 is probably my favourite gundam, its short, has good characters, and the action which is there is very well done. I don't think I've felt more attached to a gundam cast than I have in 0080.
Personally, I think the best introduction to gundam are the OAV's, the stuff like 0080 and 08th ms team. There alot easier to get into than the original trilogy (which while very good still has dated animation and stuff) But it could get them interested in the conflict enought that they'll be interested in the original.

|71.90.100.xxx |Y-m-d H:i:s Jive Turkey - Daryl SuratDaryl Surat was a great guest. When will he be on again? Also, who were the other podcasts that sucked but you guys wouldn't mentioned? Don't be cowards - tell us!
-
I think the main reason sucky podcasts weren't named is because there's so many of them. Go into iTunes and look up anime podcasts--75% of them are terrible. If you look up Naruto specific podcasts it's closer to 95%.
For the most part it's that the people making the podcasts have very poor speaking skills and little to no knowledge of how to edit audio.
-
I think you could have stopped at "very poor speaking skills" - no matter how many times you edit out people saying "er" or burping/eating if they cannot string together a sentence it is the END OF DAYS FOR THEM.

|66.177.86.xxx |Y-m-d H:i:s Thomas PSo I came to this website via a link in the latest Anime World Order episode, and I have a couple of criticisms with the show.
I sincerely hope that Joshua's squirming was because of Daryl and not because of that's how he normally speaks. The stuttering and "you knows" were painful. Also its Daryl fucking Surat. Of course he's going to attempt to take you to school if you don't know the difference between UC and AC. In the future, perhaps you should have notes or more extensive notes on the show you're talking about. Additionally you could stick to reviewing things that are their own things rather then taking on a beast like Gundam.
The podcasts, review section, and gaming really really needs some type of index. Searching for anything is a nightmare.
I hope so

|75.192.48.xxx |Y-m-d H:i:s Sarah Cyanbaker - Daryl was awesome and feedbackLong-time listener to A.W.O and followed the link from there.
Daryl was right about being careful with the spoilers. Some of us otaku want to go back and watch older anime, and if I want Huge Spoilers, I'd seek them out. He was a great guest, and hopefully Daryl comes back. I'd love to hear Daryl or Clarissa from A.W.O guest when you guys get around to shows like Love Hina or Gerald from A.W.O talk about hentai.
Oh, and Daryl's rant on Gundam SEED Destiny is epic. I listen to that every now and now. And Loudness was the best 80s band.
-
|SAdministrator |Y-m-d H:i:s Sean RussellI'm slowly working on the navigation. Keep checking back for more episodes. We will be inviting Daryl back in the future as well as extending an invite to Gerald and Clarissa.

|66.214.188.xxx |Y-m-d H:i:s Tim EldredWhoah, guys. I'm another regular AWO listener and I tried this show just to see how Daryl would interact with another group and...geez...how do I say it without insulting anybody...hearing this reminded me why AWO is the only podcast I follow.
If you're going to review something, you gotta be prepared to deliver more than what I could get from the video box or a quick Googling. The reason a Gundam show is tough for a newbie to get into is because it's all about context. And the more you learn about anime in general, the more you find that everything has context.
You guys like games, so I'll use that as an example. If you want to talk at length about Street Fighter 4, don't you think the review is going to be better if it's informed by Street Fighter 1-3 and whatever else came before? If you want me to appreciate what makes SF4 better, worse, or just different, you're going to give me some context, right?
Daryl showed you point by point how to do that with an anime show. In other words, the path you've chosen, young Jedi, requires HOMEWORK. Doing more of that will improve your podcast--and your minds--immensely.
I'm also gonna have to pound on your language skills. Part of podcasting involves speaking intelligently in complete sentences with fully-formed thoughts. How can I respect your opinions if I don't respect the way you express them?
Under normal circumstances, I would have bailed out after the third "y'know like." But I hung in there 'cuz I'm solid with my boy Daryl. If your standard shows have as many "y'know likes" as this one, I don't plan on coming back any time soon.
Now granted, I might not be your normal audience member--I've been watching anime since 1980, and it takes a Daryl Surat to tell me things I haven't learned on my own--so you can dismiss all my comments if you want. But there could be a LOT of other potential listeners out there like me who have the same criteria for what makes a good show. If you want them to tune in, it might be worth your while to think about this stuff.
See yuh!

I am surprised that after war gundam x was not really covered in this show. Unless you are a true gundam afficionado then you might miss this series. (Have any of you even seen Gundam X, just curious)besides that, it was a really entertaining episode. keep up the good work. and I am using your promo in my newest episode.
i'm gonesville

I've noticed that no one else on the staff has pointed this out--The reason the Gundam talk seemed so poorly planned is because IT WAS. We didn't know what to talk about in the first segment. Sean asked us what we did that week and Josh said he watched Gundam 0080. I'm sure if he knew that he was going to have to review the show he would've done some more research.
-
|66.214.188.xxx |Y-m-d H:i:s Tim EldredA poorly planned podcast. What a great idea for building an audience! You sure won ME over!

|SAdministrator |Y-m-d H:i:s Sean RussellStay tuned for more. There's nothing like a cold sweat to snap you out of a nightmare. Two week relaunch, two weeks of retooling, result... amazing new shows.
Tim Eldred,
Thank you for visiting our site. Hope to read more honest feedback on future episodes.
Just don't cross the line from being a tough critic to being an unbearable pain in the ass.

|199.52.13.xxx |Y-m-d H:i:s Vince AYet another AWO listener that popped over here based on the Daryl appearance. I had to stop listening during the Gundam 0080 overview since it was a bit painful. I might try another episode without Daryl to see if the absence of his overwhelming personality improves the performances of the other commentators.

|79.165.177.xxx |Y-m-d H:i:s karryI concur that site design is not that good, although i've seen worse. To be fair, AWO site design is also pretty bad.
Oh and yeah, Daryl is known for his bitching, but at least he's more entertaining than those two dumb mothos at Fast Karate, may they burn in hell.
-
As you are the first person in three years to tell me that the site design is bad--I'm not saying it's not bad, just that nobody ever writes anything negative because there's so much media to consume that it's not worth the effort for most--please email me with exactly what is bad about it and I will see about fixing it. The AWO site layout is the basic Blogger template, which was designed by people who know a whole lot more about web design than me. The only recent website layout change was changing it from the default color to black.
When you email your answer--and do email it instead of posting here--please note that I am currently operating under the impression that the AWO website is awesome. At the very top of the page is the name, a description of the premise, a link to the full index of every episode, the feed URL, promo download links, and our email address and voicemail. That said, I'm too close to it all, so what necessary information is either missing or difficult to locate?
-
|Administrator |Y-m-d H:i:s SugaFreeWow, looks like nobody is ever going to forget about this incident. Here is Joshua to tell his side of the story
I have not been around because of school and I went to Mexico directly after this had been released, so I will not be surprised if nobody does read my comments.
This podcast didn't turn out the way I wanted it to be because I was incredibly nervous. To have someone like THE Daryl Surat come by our podcast was definitely something that not only got me nervous, but I wasn't prepared for the special guest. Because of my weird schedule, I never really do know who is showing up to the podcast. So the minute I heard Daryl was going to be a guest, I felt a little squeamish.
-
|Administrator |Y-m-d H:i:s SugaFreeWith that said, I appreciate the comments and feedback as it is these types of situations that will help me improve in my reviews. I want to extend my thanks to Tim Eldred, Thomas P and Sarah Cyanbaker for their constructive criticism. Just like having "that English professor" in college who will critique you for every small detail, it ultimately makes you a better writer.
