|Manager |Y-m-d H:i:s jadeFun podcast... I was fairly surprised to see Tokusatsu as a topic, and the panelists gave an informative dive into the different aspects of it, especially internationally (Mexico). I was all, "Godzilla! Really?!" Thanks for another great podcast!

Very educational. I've only gotten more into tokusatsu within the last few years, and even with that, it's mostly the henshin heroes like Kamen Rider, Super Sentai, Garo, Cutey Honey the Live and so on. That and of course Godzilla movies sprinkled throughout are pretty much all that compromise my experience. I'm always glad to learn the history and older series and movies I should see, and I want to check out the mentioned books as well. Great podcast.

Thanks for coming up with such an interesting topic of discussion for this week's podcast. I don't know a whole helluva lot about Tokusatsu, so it was great to get some perspective into the genre.
-
Thank you for mentioning our upcoming Kamen Rider tribute series. I hope you all will enjoy and appreciate it and I'm excited to share it with you all. I'll talk more about it as soon as we get the first few episodes up and running.
I must say that Fernando Ramos was such a dork in this podcast
, but so much thanks to him for representing our project for me.

It was mentioned on this show that a lot of people in the 60s and 70s watched this stuff, which was instrumental in the popularity of it in America. To hear an interview with some people who watched the old tokusatsu titles as they were relatively new, go here: http://www.animeworldorder.com/2009/09/bonus-interview-with-old-timers-of.html.

|137.45.59.xxx |Y-m-d H:i:s Jason Gaddie - Tokusatsu!!!!!!!!!!When I was a little boy, I was introduced to Tokusatsu at age 2. My first taste was with the Godzilla movies and Ultraman reruns. My dad was born and raised in Japan, and he watched Tokusatsu when he was little too. In 1993, we bought connection to TV-Asahi and Fox Network. That is when I was drenched in Toku. Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, Ultraman Tiga, Gavan, VR Troopers, etc. I was a fan and I still am.
