Fantasy land happens to land on a boy's doorstep in this one (new theme..yeah). Okay, so this guy, Tasuke Shichiri, lives by himself basically because his father and sister are traveling the world kind of archaeologist-like. His father sends him cool ancient artifacts that he finds of interest back home to his son, of which Tasuke calls "useless junk." But! He gets a seemingly useless mirror like thing one day, which he just thinks is just junk, but alas, we know different don’t we? So its an artifact that calls forth a goddess to someone pure of heart. And thus the story begins…

Shaorin Shugogetten pops out, scares the crap out of Tasuke, which is always funny to watch, and basically says her goal is to make him happy….yeah, I know, I thought the same thing, and we’re all perverts, but whatever. Shao’s power is to call forth little helper people from her mirror; her frequent use of the strictly telepathic girl who fits in your palm to watch over Tasuke, the freaking giant sized Japanese warrior who seems to sneeze and get everything gross, the dragon-lizard flying thing Shao rides on, and my favorite…she calls forth like hundreds of these little men (reminds me of lemmings, you guys remember lemmings?) who can fix anything, destroy anything, and generally run amuck, its great. By the way, Shao rarely actually just helps Tasuke as you might’ve guessed (Tasuke’s school has a frequent habit of blowing up).

Next up, Ruuan Keikounitten (won’t believe this…) another goddess who shows up who’s sole purpose is to make Tasuke happy. She’s older in appearance than Shao so she has that adult appeal as Tasuke calls it. She comes from this flute like artifact that she uses to make any inanimate object come to life, seriously, the school building actually fights with Shao’s giant sneezing dude at one point. Ruuan is notably more aggressive about getting Tasuke alone and doing whatnot with him than Shao happens to be. Ruuan and Shao start out as enemies from both serving past masters and having fought all the time, but they turn out to tolerate each other.

Other characters worth noting are Takashi and Izumo; Takashi is Tasuke’s classmate and Izumo is the heir to a local shrine. Both fall in love with Shao, but Izumo is way more forceful about it, and you hate him for it, jerk. Kouichirou is another of Tasuke’s classmates but he loves Shao. Kaori is Tasuke’s lower classmen who falls in love with him. Then there’s Shouko who looks to be a delinquent girl, but she changes her ways and we end up liking her. And meanwhile both goddesses want Tasuke…weird pararellagram of love going on here huh?

As for the plot, among Tasuke’s sister showing up, his father being kidnapped, a panty stealing guy at school, everyone lusting after everyone, Shao’s relationship with Tasuke may be in jeopardy. She begins developing feelings for Tasuke that she’s not sure what they are, and then she may have to leave Tasuke forever! What will become of everyone?! Well no fear kids, everything works out for a happy, albeit weird ending. Hilarious scenarios that come about, along with serious moments too, you really get some good character development behind everyone also. My favorite happens to be Shouko though. Very funny school-life drama type of anime, definitely gets my approval. Later days anime junkies.
