| MÃR is an anime series about a fairy tale world and a young boy's adventures in that world. This young boy is 14-year old Toramizu Ginta who is a bit of a nerd. Ginta constantly fantasizes about this fantasy world from his dreams, and everyday wishes that he could visit this fantasy world just once. One day during class, a doorway magically appears to this fantasy world. Ginta travels through the doorway into this new realm. In this new world, Ginta magically becomes a hero with super strength and super speed. He does not receive these gifts from any special encounter, but simply for being in this new world. Ginta then finds a magical item called an ARM. ARMs are special devices that were created by magic and give the user a special ability. More specifically, Ginta obtains the legendary, dangerous ARM called Babbo. Babbo has killed many people in the past, and has been sealed away ever since. But that is not the only thing that makes Babbo a unique ARM, Babbo can also speak, which is not common for ARMs. So, Ginta must learn to get along with Babbo and work together. The characters in the show have a good range of personalities, but Ginta can get a bit annoying. Think of Ginta as Naruto with ADD. Synergy Japan handles the animation for this series, and it is pretty well done. The character and ARM designs are rather original as well. There is a lot of unnecessary CG thrown in though and it not only does not fit with the show, but looks really bad at times. This show tends to lean towards kids a bit, though it does have some comical moments that everyone can enjoy. I could definitely see this show airing on Cartoon Networkâs Toonami or Miguzi and fitting in nicely with their current shows. This show has not been licensed, so feel free to give this one a look. It is nothing original or fresh and new, but it is enjoyable. Links: http://www.akadot.com/article.php?a=350 |
